For a while I’ve been working tetherd at the recommandation of Frank Doorhof. I always use the Tether Tools JerkStopper kit. They really saved the life of myCanon 5D USB port. I was in my dark studio and with my feet (size BIG) I stood on the cable and “snap”. The Tether Tools JerkStopper Camera Support cord broke. This way the USB port on my camera has no damage!

Thankfully ITC sells the Tether Tools CameraSupports, so I don’t have to buy a whole kit again.

TetherPro Premium USB A to Mini B 5-pin Cables have gold plated connector fot corrosion-resistance to ensure consistent and reliable conductivity. This 15 foot (4.6m) USB 2.0 cable connects to your camera that uses a 5-pin mini-B connector. This cable is designed and manufactured to USB specifications  ensuring excellent performance. This cable is now available in High-Visibility Orange and is still available in black, as well.

Per USB specifications, TetherTools recommends using a USB Active Extension fot tethering distances greater than 15 feet. To preserve signal integrity and minimize noise, active extensions offer a signal booster every 16 ft.

TetherPro’s premium quality USB 2.0 Extension cable, available in 16, 32, 49 of 65 feet. (5, 10, 15 or 20m) lengths, is an active extension device. Active extension cables allow for longer tethering distances without worrying about signal errors or corrupt data transfers.  These cables are available in High-Visibility Orange or Black.

With an active USB device, signals and data transfers going in and out of the extension cable are buffered to ensure consistent signal quality, meeting USB’s highest electrical and timing specifications. Passive cables in lengths over 15ft (5m) may results in signal errors and/or noise and are not recommended. For Tethering distances longer than 15ft, active USB extensions are recommended every 15ft. To extend the passive cable, Active Extension Cables can be daisy chained toghter for a total of 80 feet (24m) before any drop-off in signal of quality is detected.
